What is millwrighting?

A millwright is capable of doing numerous and complex jobs. Millwrights are highly skilled laborers that are trained in dismantling, building, assembling, aligning, leveling and installing industrial machinery while following blueprints and layout plans.

   Millwright Duties

  • A millwright is required to have comprehensive knowledge of all load-bearing abilities of the equipment that they handle in addition to a full comprehension of blueprints and technical specifications.
  • With the knowledge of blueprints, a millwright must use that information to control labor procedures, establish foundations, assemble, overhaul, and dismantle equipment.
  • A millwright works on relocating, assembling and installing equipment and machinery such as gearboxes, motors, precision bearings, trucks, mechanical clutches, conveyors and much more.
  • Millwrights must acquire knowledge concerning fluid mechanics as well as all elements involved in these processes including pumps, compressors, cylinders, and valves.
